PurvX India is a marketplace where people in India buy and sell new and preloved ethnic wear. This Privacy Policy applies to purvx.in and its subdomains, and to all related features, tools, and services (the "Services"). PurvX India is the Data Fiduciary responsible for your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act").

This Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. By using the Services you acknowledge that you have read it. If our Terms of Service conflict with this Policy, this Policy controls for the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information. If anything is unclear, write to us at support@purvx.in.

Personal information we collect or process

"Personal information" means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you. Depending on whether you are a buyer or a seller, and how you use the Services, we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, billing and shipping or pickup address, phone number, and email address.
  • Account information: username, password, preferences, and settings.
  • Verification documents (sellers only): your Aadhaar and PAN, used to confirm your identity before you can sell. We store only the last four digits of your Aadhaar and PAN together with the verified name; the document images are held in private storage with restricted access.
  • Payout details (sellers only): your bank account number and IFSC, or your UPI ID, so we can pay you. Your bank account number is stored in encrypted form, and only the last four digits are shown in our systems.
  • Listing information (sellers only): item details, photos, prices, and measurements you upload.
  • Transaction information: items you view, add to cart or wishlist, and your purchases, sales, returns, exchanges, cancellations, payment proofs, and invoices.
  • Financial information for purchases: payment card or account details and payment confirmations, handled by our payment partners.
  • Communications: the information you include when you contact us.
  • Device and usage information: device, browser, IP address, and how you interact with the Services.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Selling on PurvX India is only for adults.

How we collect personal information

We collect personal information directly from you, automatically through the Services (including cookies and similar technologies), and from service providers or partners who help us run the Services.

Our purposes, and the basis on which we rely

We process your personal information mainly on the basis of your consent, which you give when you create an account, list an item, or agree to this Policy, and on other lawful grounds where the law allows (such as meeting a legal obligation). You can withdraw your consent at any time, as described under "Your rights" below.

We use your personal information to:

  • provide and run the Services, create and manage your account, and verify your identity (including seller identity checks);
  • list and sell items, process orders, returns, exchanges, and reviews;
  • pay sellers and raise invoices;
  • keep the marketplace safe and detect or prevent fraud and misuse;
  • provide customer support and communicate with you;
  • comply with our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations;
  • send marketing communications, only where you have agreed, with an unsubscribe option in every marketing email; and
  • show you relevant advertising and measure how it performs, where we use advertising partners and cookies or similar technologies. You can manage these through your browser or device settings.

Who we share your information with

We share personal information only as needed to run the Services, and we do not sell it. We may share it with:

  • service providers who host and operate the Services and act on our instructions, including hosting and platform providers, our email provider, our invoicing provider, payment partners, and logistics and courier partners;
  • advertising and analytics partners, where we use cookies or similar technologies to measure or show ads;
  • government or legal authorities, where we are required by law, or to enforce our terms and protect our users and the Services;
  • another party where you direct or consent to it, for example to ship you an order; and
  • a successor entity in connection with a business transaction such as a merger or restructuring.

Our service providers are permitted to use your information only to provide their service to us. Our store runs on a third-party commerce platform that processes some data as an independent controller; you can read its consumer privacy policy at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy/app-users and manage your choices at https://privacy.shopify.com/en.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process your personal information on servers outside India. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps so your information stays protected to the standard set out in this Policy.

Third-party websites and links

The Services may link to websites operated by third parties. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies before sharing information.

Children's data

The Services are not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at support@purvx.in and we will delete it.

Security

We use encryption for sensitive details such as your bank account number, keep identity and payment documents in private storage that is not publicly accessible, restrict access to authorised personnel, and log sensitive actions. No system is perfectly secure and information sent over the internet is not guaranteed to be secure, so please do not send sensitive details through unsecured channels. If a personal data breach occurs, we will act on it and notify the people and authorities as required by the DPDP Act.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, whichever is longer:

  • Identity documents (Aadhaar, PAN images): while your account is active, and deleted within about 90 days after your account is closed or an application is rejected. We keep only the last four digits and the verified name after that.
  • Bank account number: while your account is active and payouts are pending, then deleted, keeping only the last four digits on record.
  • Financial records (invoices, orders, payouts): up to 8 years, as required by tax law.
  • Abandoned signups: deleted after about 90 days of inactivity.
  • Other account data: deleted when you close your account, except where we must keep it for the periods above.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

  • access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it;
  • have your personal data corrected, completed, or updated;
  • have your personal data erased when it is no longer needed;
  • receive a copy of your information, where applicable;
  • nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to do so; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, which may mean we can no longer provide some parts of the Services.

To exercise any of these, write to support@purvx.in from your registered email. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law allows. You may also manage marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any such email. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Policy here, update the "Last updated" date, and give notice where required.
